San Diego is paradise, there is no other word for the southern California city with fantastic year-round weather. Besides the idyllic climate, there is a ton to do throughout the city and along the 70 miles of beaches. It’s also well known for its relaxed, nature-loving, happy culture of people. Visiting San Diego is a rejuvenating experience and should be on everyone’s bucket list.
If you’re headed to the city for a long weekend, you’ll find the ultimate 3-day itinerary here and if you’re a foodie, I have provided some great restaurant recommendations.
Trying out the best food spots while in a new city is always exciting. The quality and quantity of options can tell you a lot about a place. A good meal is also something you’ll remember long after you’ve returned from your trip.
Here are the restaurants I would recommend for your three days in San Diego:
Now located inside of Del Mar Rendezvous as a speakeasy, this makes the perfect brunch spot! From breakfast burritos to intricate sandwiches and waffles, it’s the ideal place for brunch lovers.
Also in downtown San Diego, Salvatore’s Cucina & Lounge is a refined, romantic, and elegant Italian restaurant. This white-tablecloth restaurant is the epitome of fine dining.
This rooftop restaurant in La Jolla serves breakfast and lunch with a side of ocean views. There is something for everyone, from waffles to fish tacos and lobster rolls.
This is a must when visiting San Diego! My absolute favorite is the lobster grill cheese with a side of their crab bisque soup. Lobster West is located on Coronado Island, which can be reached from San Diego by car using the Coronado Bridge or by ferry and boat. This restaurant only serves seafood, so be sure your whole party likes ocean cuisine.
La Jolla Cove is an ecologically protected area with surrounding cliffs and a sheltered beach. It’s popular among snorkelers and scuba divers and you’re likely to spot sea lions who call this area home. Consider scheduling a picnic with Pop Up Picnic Co. so you can enjoy the extravagant nature views. My boyfriend, Alex, surprised me with this on the day of my birthday and it was the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful views!
Pacific Beach is one of the most popular neighborhoods in San Diego. PB is a favorite among young adults because it’s known for its party atmosphere and has many restaurants and bars. It’s also popular among surfers and it’s known for its boardwalk along the beach.
San Diego Bay is an excellent place for aimlessly strolling and sightseeing. If you’re hoping to get out on the water, consider pedal boating out on the bay or going on a cruise.
Consider visiting Coronado Island for the amazing views of the San Diego skyline and its white, sandy beaches. While on the island, you can go on a walk-through of Hotel del Coronado, which is famous for its role in film and it’s a National Historic Landmark.
Beaches for your furry friends are very popular in San Diego and it’s one of the most accommodating places for dog owners. Some great dog beaches are Del Mar Dog Beach and Coronado Dog Beach.
Of course, there are many other great things to do in San Diego, but if you only have three days, this is a great itinerary full of beaches and yummy food!
