Bye-bye summer sun, hello fall radiance! As the seasons start to change, so may our skin, which means tweaking and adjusting our skincare routine to fit it’s needs.
Naturally, our skin will start to become more dry which can cause an array of problems. For some this means sluggish skin, clogged pores, rough texture or maybe even a combination of oily and dehydrated skin because your skin is producing more oil to keep it moisturized due to lack of moisture in the air.
Here are some of my favorite fall skin tips to incorporate to keep my skin balanced and looking its best throughout the fall.
A gentle cleanser using gentle or creamy cleanser will help keep your skin balanced and clean without stripping away moisture. My favorites are:
Keep it simple with the PCASkin Creamy Cleanser. I always recommend to use a basic, gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin of necessary moisture. It’s not necessary to use cleansers with glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.
The Mega Creamy Cleanser from GlyMed Plus is another really great option. It’s pretty basic and doesn’t dry out the skin.
If you’re wanting to do a little at-home spa day/treatment, this luxurious cleanser creates a warming sensation, leaving your skin velvety smooth. It’s better to use this 1-3 times a week as a little treat to your skin. Pair it with the Cooling Hydrating masque from iS Clinical for a little extra boost.
PRO TIP: Leave cleanser on the skin for 3-5 minutes before rinsing to experience all its sensorial and nourishing benefits!
Use a hydrating, nourishing toner or serum. Picking a high quality toner or serum is important because many out there can strip your skin, making your skin dry and impairing your skin barrier. Here are some of my favs:
Exfoliate Gently and Less Often: If your skin is feeling dry and dull, it makes sense that you would think increasing exfoliation is the best option. But that’s not always the answer. If your skin is burning when putting products on, I would stay away from exfoliating completely, as burning indicates more of a skin barrier issue. If you’re just experiencing dry patches or dullness without the burning, opt for these gentle exfoliators that have helped my skin “baby skin” soft!
Swap For a Rich Moisturizer. Dry skin requires both humectants and emollients that draw in moisture and lock in moisture. Honestly I can only recommend one product for this category. After trying this moisturizer, nothing compares! It is the best thing that’s happened to my skin. It’s like literal silk in a bottle and provides deep hydration, without the weight.
Use a humidifier. You can minimize the potential for dry skin by using a humidifier to add moisturizer into the air during colder, drier months. I use a mini humidifier that sits on my nightstand to ensure the moisture is reaching my skin. On the rare occasion that I don’t use my humidifier, my skin instantly feels different.
Hot, steamy showers only strip the skin of its natural oils and moisture, drying out the skin and adding fuel to the fire. I know it’s tempting during the colder months, but really try to only use warm water.
UV radiation is around us all year long. As long as there’s daylight, you’re getting sun exposure. Wearing a broad spectrum with an SPF of 15 or higher is highly recommended. My favorites are:

These are all products I have used and highly recommend, as they changed my skin after years of using products from Sephora, Ulta and drugstore that were just meh. Cheers to glowing skin!
