Lifestyle blogger serving up the latest self-care tips to exploring travel destinations that elevate the soul. Here to inspire and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
If you’re anything like me, you HAVE to have a self-care routine even on vacation. For me, quite literally nothing is worse than feeling crusty and dusty on a vacation. I mean vacations are for pampering yourself and are the ultimate self-care, right? So taking your time on your morning and night routine only makes sense in my mind! In addition to my core skincare routine, here are five beauty and wellness items I cannot travel without:
Oil pulling is new to my routine, but obviously it isn’t very efficient to travel with a whole jar of coconut oil. So these packets are literally perfect to travel with and still take care of your oral hygiene.
For those who are new to this, oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that is regaining popularity among holistic-lovers. You can swish either room temperature organic sesame oil or room temperature organic cold pressed coconut oil in your mouth for five to twenty minutes. The oil travels up into places your toothbrush can’t reach and pulls out the bacteria and toxins. Sounds amazing right?
The benefits of oil pulling include: healthier gums and teeth resulting in reducing bad breath & cavities, helps with inflammation and gut health, can whiten teeth. I’ve also heard it can help with hangovers, strep, sinus issues, and skin issues!
Whatever you do, do not swallow the oil or spit it down your drains! You do not want to swallow all the toxins and bacteria that you just pulled from your teeth, and the oil can solidify & clog your drains. You’ll also want to brush your teeth AFTER oil pulling, as this will ensure you’re completely getting rid of bacteria and the oil.
Even though I am not a huge fan of sheet masques (something about them gives me the ick), this Lipid Recovery Mask is convenient to travel with and will give the ultimate rejuvenation and glow post flight.
If you don’t know by now, flying is tough on our skin. It’s dry, dirty and stressful which will show on our face. Using this as soon as you get to your hotel, AFTER washing your face, will feel so refreshing!
Benefits:
+ Helps reduce the appearance of redness
+ Promotes healthier looking skin Improves skin texture appearance
+ Leaves skin feeling smoother and tighter
+ Provides a soothing feeling to skin
Thank me later for this one!
If you’re not using a tongue scrapper, where have you been?! This Ayurvedic practice is gaining all the hype. There’s loads of benefits from tongue scrapping, including reducing bad breath and bacteria, improves sense of taste and gut health, just to name a few.
You’ll want to do this first thing in the morning, before even taking a drink of water. Bacteria builds up on our tongues during the night, and you don’t want to wash it back down into your gut after your body has worked all night to detox itself and get rid of that bad bacteria.
These tongue scrappers are great for traveling simply because it comes with a case to protect it.
I first heard about the importance of drinking trace minerals from functional medicine dietician, Robyn Johnson. Ever since drinking her Mineral Drink Mix, Ravyi, I will never go back. I noticed an incredible difference in my hydration, and if I ever want a few cocktails, this saves me from feeling like ass the next day.
Unfortunately they don’t sell travel size packets, so I found similar travel electrolyte/mineral powder that could work linked here.
Sunscreen is a must, and not just once in the morning! Reapplying throughout the day while out in the sun is crucial to prevent pigmentation, wrinkles and obv skin cancer. This sunscreen compact makes it easy to reapply on-the-go and over makeup. AND it’s honestly the best damn sunscreen you could ever invest in. It protects your skin from blue lights from our phones, TVs, tablets, it’s a broad spectrum sunscreen, and water resistant!
You can only purchase SkinBetter products through licensed professionals, so I have linked the portal from the Medi Spa I work at since I am a licensed esthetician. **At the time of writing this, I do not make a commission off of SkinBetter products.**
There you have it! These are my must-have beauty and wellness travel must-haves. I hope you enjoyed this <3 Let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations for me! I’m always looking to upgrade and improve my routines and I love learning.
xoxo,
Ashleigh
